Hannah’s Senior Portraits // Class of 2019

Hannah’s Senior Portraits // Class of 2019

Hannah is who she is and she’s not afraid of that. And she will be the one to tell her friend she has something in her teeth, probably in front of everyone. Hannah speaks her mind and keeps everyone around her on their toes and in stitches (that means “keeps them laughing” for all you non-southerners). Whether it’s her dry humor or blunt comments, she brings humor to otherwise awkward situations. I love it! She makes things more fun and keeps things real. There’s nothing fake about this girl. She also knows what she loves and makes it happen, like making sure to have sunflowers at her session when they are no longer in season. The pops of color and stars in her outfits perfectly symbolize her bold and sure attitude about life. I cannot wait to see what adventures await her. Hannah is a member of the 2019 Senior Style Team and I LOVE working with her. She adds a little bit of drama and flair to the dynamic of our group and team shoots. I am so thankful she is part of the team! Hannah & Denise! It has been such a pleasure getting to know you. I hope you cherish these images! Thank you so much for inviting me into your...
Senior Style Team Photo Shoots // Class of 2019

Senior Style Team Photo Shoots // Class of 2019

Introducing the Class of 2019!! Meet our Senior Style Team for this year’s senior class. Life is an adventure, so… GO EXPLORE! That’s what we are all about this year. Don’t just survive your day to day existence. Look for the adventures that surround us. For this photo shoot, we looked at the wilderness within our own town. We are fortunate to have so many amazing serene natural landscapes around us. Lots of farms, woods, fields and water. We had such a great, but windy day! We pretended to be wilderness girls… with a little style. We found lots of fire ants, some goats, poison ivy and an old boat. Oh, and some new friendships. Check back for personal introductions! Thank you, girls! You all are amazing! I can’t wait to keep working with y’all this year. Stay safe in this storm! Make-up: Ashley Holloman & Dana...
Cap and Gown Portraits // Class of 2018

Cap and Gown Portraits // Class of 2018

Whether you’re allowed to or not, let those caps fly! (Well, at least at some point on your graduation day – get that diploma first!)  Bust out of that box that you’ve been put in. From here, things change. Shed all those high school cliche’s and stereotypes and be you – the real you. Don’t worry about what other people think. Be brave and step into the person you are called to be. Be set free. But don’t forget these times. Remember the friendships. Hold close those things your parents and teachers told you that kept you going on the straight and narrow. Keep the prize in your sights, but have fun on the journey. Enjoy the next few years! They will be some of the best of your life! Congrats to all my graduates! I love each one of you dearly!   Y’all, I can’t believe this year is over. It just keeps getting better every year. I’m sad to see this class head out to the rest of your life, but soooo excited for you! I will miss you & be praying for you. Go get...
Payton // Class of 2018 // Senior Shoot & Cap and Gown

Payton // Class of 2018 // Senior Shoot & Cap and Gown

One of the first thing’s Payton told me when we talked about her senior shoot was that she loved photography. So of course, I told her to bring her camera to her session! I loved incorporating that part of her life into her senior portraits. We were on the farm, so we had some interesting subjects (the goats weren’t very cooperative either), but we had fun grabbing some action shots. By the time, she put on those converse & her flannel, she was super comfortable being on the other side of the camera. And I may or may not have made her do some twirls, but the tire swing – that was all Payton! We got to have more fun at her cap and gown shoot a few weeks later – that cap toss is a lot harder than it looks. It’s like throwing a kite. Kris & Payton, thank you so much for choosing me to capture this special year for you! I loved getting to know you!  I hope you cherish these portraits for years to come....
Cameron’s Senior Portraits // APA 2018

Cameron’s Senior Portraits // APA 2018

Here’s a little tidbit about me. I started out as a newspaper photographer, and covered a TON of sports. Even though that’s not really what I wanted to do, I saw the stories in it, and y’all know I love stories. The action shots of the game and the passion behind why people play speak volumes. Cameron may not have had an opponent that day (his only challenge was not hitting my camera with his aces), but his focus and concentration are always there on the court & the field. It was perfect that we started the portraits out there, where he is most at home, and then headed downtown to get a little outside his comfort zone. Here’s a secret, sessions with high school guys… are a challenge I love. I love seeing them transform from stiff to at ease in front of the lens. I love to bring out the Abercrombie model in these guys who claim “they don’t like pictures” or the ones who are there for their moms. Cameron was definitely there for his mom – he’s not the kind of guy who posts selfies. He completely surprised me, though! He was up for anything. He was patient and had great ideas. He even did a jumping shot (which always end up as a favorite.) He also can do a “fake laugh” like a champ. Cameron, Jimi & Mark, I had such a fun time with y’all that day! Graduation is just a few short days away – can you believe it? Thank y’all so much for trusting me to capture this pinnacle time in...
Megan’s Rad Senior Shoot in Kinston

Megan’s Rad Senior Shoot in Kinston

One thing I love about Kinston is how many types of locations I can find for senior portraits. You want a farm, easy. Forest, field, river – check! Then there’s downtown – it is the most versatile of all. Old wooden doors give a rustic feel while modern art, murals, brick, windows & staircases give a cool urban vibe. Depending where you want to venture, there are 100’s of options. Megan wanted both farm and city, and I love how unique her senior shoot turned out. It was definitely the giant grasshoppers that brought out her true personality though 🙂 No, but really, she was much more at home in skinnies and a tee. If I had to sum her up in our time together, I’d say she’s a super smart rocker chick, and I think she’s ready to kiss high school good-bye. Megan, I had a blast with you that day! I wish you the best in all you do and can’t wait to follow along on your...
