Pretty soon Anna will know the true meaning of her lines “there’s no place like home.” This school year is turning out to be a whirlwind for her and pretty soon, she will be whisked off to the school of her choice (I have no doubt). On Saturday, she was named “Distinguished Young Women” of Lenoir County and two days later, we met in downtown Goldsboro for her senior portraits. She began telling me of all that was going on, including dinner theatre, dance, Cotillion, oh and an exam she had to take by 11:30 pm that night. Those hours I got to spend with her sweet mama and her during her senior session were, I hope, a special time to just step back and look at the fact that she is a senior. This is it. She is going to go out with a bang and what she told Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” will have a much deeper worth.
She was the perfect Glinda last year. Her face is always smiling, even when her lips are not. She is up for anything, including laying on a bed of jagged rocks. I may have made her stare into the sun, sit in the street and go on pointe a til her toes were numb, but I hope this shoot will define her senior year.
