December is filled with stress. Good stress. We all bustle about collecting goodies to give out, eat, decorate with. I love it. As always, I have been playing Christmas music since the beginning of November, we set out our Willow Tree Nativity and decorated the tree. This year will be a bit different.
A newborn baby always shakes things up a bit. Plus my husband tore his Achilles tendon three weeks ago. He is unable to put any weight on his injured foot and he cannot drive. My two-almost-three year-old little girl, who is just adjusting to having a new baby brother, is having a hard time coping with her daddy on crutches. And a nasty cold is making its way through our family. Doctor appointments are a weekly occurrence, and this week we had one everyday for four days in a row!
To be completely honest, I have had a couple breakdowns and moments I wish I could take back. I have been learning selflessness like never before, and I have come to grips with what should really be my top priorities.
Overall, we are experiencing Christmas for its true meaning in one of the most real ways possible. God’s grace, mercy and love in human form. We have never felt a community come around our family in such a loving way, as over the past few months. I haven’t had to cook a meal in over two and a half months!
My mom came down from Ohio for three and a half weeks to help us through Baby Helicopter’s birth. A friend, whose wife just had twin sons, has taken care of our lawn. My brother and his wife drove from Nashville, TN for Thanksgiving because we weren’t able to travel to see our families. They fixed us meals, washed our dishes and were at our beck and call for four days. Thank you so much to all of you who have supported us during the past few months.
Tis the Season! God is good, isn’t He?!
