September always means school to me, except for those few years between college and parenthood. I don’t know that I’ve ever been as nervous as I was this year for “back-to-school.”
One week ago, we started homeschooling our kindergartner and preschooler. It has been a roller coaster. The first day went surprisingly well, and the second day, we crashed and burned. So… goals this month are a minimal again. We are focusing on two things right now: school and the Toloha Banquet. I do have a few other things I’m working on and would like to complete this month. Here they are:
1. Design a planner. I’m already more than halfway done with this one. This school year, I started with a planner that was specifically designed for homeschooling moms, and I found that there just wasn’t enough room for all the other stuff going on in our lives. I decided to make my own because I just couldn’t find one out there that fit my vision. Yes, I even have a vision for this…I’m a creative…that’s life.
2. Rely on God daily and moment by moment. With all the stuff I’m juggling right now, I have totally tried to micromanage God. So this goal goes hand and hand with my planner. I know that God is the ultimate planner, and I simply have to do my best to manage the time and tasks with which he blesses me. This is more of a way of life than a goal.
3. Take a photo of my kids every day. I just want to rekindle my passion for photography of my own family.
4. Blog about my homeschooling experience. Last month, I started a personal blog and I’m not telling where it is yet. I started blogging the first day of school and have tried to blog after every day. I hope to make it public by the end of the year. Right now, it’s just a bunch of drafts with no images. It has helped me relieve pressure of perfection, get a better idea of how the day actually went and be real about my experience. It’s been therapeutic.
Well, that’s all! Do y’all have any goals you want to share this month? Let’s make the very best of September together! Happy back-to-school!
