Just a week after this session with the Killinger family, their oldest son, Walt was leaving for his 2 year mission. Instead of heading to college, like many graduates in his class, he would be traveling to a different country where he knew no one. During his mission, the only communication he will have with his family is written letter.
So, needless to say this session was really special. There were no tears at the session, though, only pride. Pride and joy. As they explained the details of the journey he would embark on, it was evident how proud they were of their son and how strong they all were to make this sacrifice. The tears came at our Image Reveal today, one week after they last saw Walt when they took him to his training facility in Utah. I am so grateful we were able to do this session so they could have these images while he is gone.
This is the second time I have had the privilege to work with the Killingers, and I was a little familiar with their family dynamic. I always like to have a little fun and loosen thing up a bit, so we played a game of telephone…it was interesting! Hahaha! Remind me next time that teenage boys are too keen on playing telephone. It was fun, though, and by the end, everyone was laughing.
Rickie & Karyn, I appreciate y’all so much. Your generosity and kindness are so refreshing! Thank you for working with me again, especially for this special session. I will join y’all in prayer for Walt and for you as you wait for his return. Your family is beautiful and so fun! Really, y’all are fun! I appreciate your humor and know how strange it is to be in front of a camera. Your boys are such good sports and Holland could totally be in an American Girl movie.
