Dance Senior Portraits in Kinston North Carolina

October 24, 20181 min read

Ashlyn is sweet and dedicated. She is one of my Style Team members, so I've gotten to work with her for over a year! One of the first things I learned about her is that she is at dance 6 days a week! She fell in love with dance after going to her first competition and never looked back. She drives back and forth to Durham weekly to be part of the OM Grown Dancers family. I love how passionate she is about dance while still maintaining her laid-back attitude about life. We tried to capture a little bit of that at her senior shoot in downtown Kinston and then out in the country. I'm so excited to see her blossom and grow as she continues to pursue her dance career.

Ashlyn & Jennifer, I have loved working with y'all this year and getting to know Ashlyn on the style team! Thank you so much for sharing this year with me!

5 Tips to Make the Most of a Blue Sky in Portraits without a Flash.

Published on: 17/02/2023

One mistake a lot of portrait photographers make constantly is to blow out the sky in their portraits. Raise your hand if that is ever you. My hand is up with you. I have plenty of portraits with the sky completely blown out. And sometimes that is unavoidable - on a gray day or when I want to use backlighting from the sun. But when you have a blue sky like the one below, you want that blue to make it through in your images. Here's how to make it happen without a flash.
