Picnic & Pics Portrait Party Recap

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to my Portrait Party! We enjoyed some delicious pastries, lemonade, fellowship, and of course some picture time!

I designed this backdrop to be a little boho, whimsy and cottage core. It sums up my style of photography. I love the beautiful light filtering through my grandmother's antique lace curtains. The theme was Picnic & Pics and I think we achieved it.

I absolutely loved working with Ivey's Home and Garden for this event. I highly recommend them as a venue for everything from weddings to birthday parties! They also host live music and food trucks several times throughout the warmer weather. I'm actually headed there tonight to see some of my favorites: The Facultly

5 Tips to Make the Most of a Blue Sky in Portraits without a Flash.

One mistake a lot of portrait photographers make constantly is to blow out the sky in their portraits. Raise your hand if that is ever you. My hand is up with you. I have plenty of portraits with the sky completely blown out. And sometimes that is unavoidable - on a gray day or when I want to use backlighting from the sun. But when you have a blue sky like the one below, you want that blue to make it through in your images. Here's how to make it happen without a flash.
